did i notice before?

There is one leaf left now at the top of the magnolia tree. I watched its leaves turn, mottled life fire, and now the bare branches with their cocoon shaped buds remind me that in spring they will open into pools of fragrance.
The tree too, that tried to grip me as I held on to you, its leaves are carpeting the ground with warm rust. So much less frightening it seems now, disrobed like it is.
I am waiting for the gingko trees. Their supple leaves have turned bright yellow and started to fall, but I am waiting to be greeted in the morning by their bare arms and by the soft murmur of their leaves underneath me.
Then it will be time.
